The Night Before The Night Before

by Kate Chamberlin
Our three grandsons, ages 14, 12, and 2-years old, were staying over-night with us on the night before the night before Christmas. We suspected their parents wanted to wrap presents, but we welcome the boys whenever we can get them.
One of our Christmas traditions is to read ‘The Night Before Christmas’. The older two weren’t interested in hearing it again, but agreed to take a photo of Granddad reading the story to CJ. Cj is still too young to really know what Christ’s birth is all about, but he does love to have stories read to him. Then, in his own time, he’ll take a book and “read” it to himself.
He sat very still and attentive as Granddad read the story. The next day, we sent the book home with him. Hopefully, he’ll enjoy the story for years to come. Maybe he’ll even remember the warm fuzzy feeling we all had as we shared that tradition of the night before the night before Christmas, 2012.
