Behind Our Eyes: A Second Look

BOE2 coverEdited by Kate Chamberlin

ISBN 978-1490304472

These writers didn’t have a choice about disabilities in their lives, but each certainly made choices about handling their daily challenges. Through their stories, poems, and essays, these writers have chosen to live life to its fullest.

Behind Our Eyes, Inc, a 501C-3 nonprofit organization, offers accessible opportunities for writers with disabilities  to share and discuss their work with fellow members, guest authors, and professionals in the publishing field via their e-mail list and teleconferences. Through positive critiques and suggestions, the members support and assist each other in their on-going efforts to express themselves in the written word. Braille displays, screen-reading software, and other adaptive technologies enhance the skills for many of these writers.

This second anthology showcases the literary endeavors of this unique collection of writers. Their first anthology, Behind Our Eyes, was published in 2007 and the on-line magazine, Magnets and Ladders, made its debut in 2011.    The pieces in Behind Our Eyes: A Second Look, are a rich blend of new submissions to this anthology, as well as reprints from the online magazine. The vivid tapestry of life these writers weave with their stories, poems, and essays demonstrates what a varied and diverse group they are, yet showcases their similarities to each other and to the world at large. You may share your thoughts with these authors and others at www.BehindOurEyes.org  and www.MagnetsandLadders.org.

The organization of this book enables you to read it from cover to cover, flip to a theme, pick your favorite author, or just read one selection each day. Whatever your reading preference is, it’s worth taking a second look.
