Cornucopia: Autumnal, acrostic
Autumnal, Acrostic
by Kate Chamberlin
Ashes from burning piles of leaves
Undulate like precursors of snow on the breeze.
Tree branches stand naked and jig
Until snow stops swirling to coat each twig.
Migrating geese honk and jostle the skyways,
Neighborhood children Trick-or-Treat as they traverse the driveways.
After frost is on the pumpkin
Lovers canoodle beneath an Eider down quilt and sleep in.
