While murder should never be taken lightly, this story is a light mystery with a lot of people and a very interesting Renaissance venue surrounding the murder theme. I enjoyed this book, although I did peg the perp early on.
Be sure to try the recipes she includes at the end of the book.

“As the annual Renaissance Fair comes to Crystal Cove, Jenna Hart’s Cookbook Nook is packed with tasty treats and all things medieval, while her pal Bailey is ready to swoon over her upcoming nuptials at a local vineyard. But when the two friends discover the body of the vineyard’s owner bludgeoned by a winepress, all their merriment fades, along with their hopes for a vintage year. Which churlish varlet did the deed? Was it the victim’s errant brother, who stood to inherit the vineyards? Or the owner’s crestfallen ex-girlfriend? Mayhap it was the newly arrived comely wench, or her jealous husband. Fie on them all! Verily, Jenna can’t rest until justice is served, and she vows to track down the killer. But can she sniff out the truth before the villainous culprit strikes again? Includes tantalizing recipes!” — Provided by publisher. Some violence.

Kate’s 2¢: “The Maze” by Nelson DeMille
“The Maze” by Nelson DeMille
I can’t say that I like the main character, John Corey. He may get the job done, but he’s a real pain and absolute ‘apple core’. Not to mention, terrible husband material. Well, maybe he and the Sgt. Are made for each other.
It was interesting to ‘hear’ his inner-personal thought before he spoke out loud. Good pov ploy by the author.

“In his dazzling #1 bestseller, Plum Island, Nelson DeMille introduced readers to NYPD Homicide Detective John Corey, who we first meet sitting on the back porch of his uncle’s waterfront estate on Long Island, convalescing from wounds incurred in the line of duty. A visit from the local Chief of Police results in the legendary Detective Corey becoming involved in the investigation of the murders of a married couple who were scientists at the top-secret biological research facility on Plum Island. Fast forward through six more bestselling John Corey novels and The Maze opens with Corey on the same porch, but now in forced retirement from his last job as a Federal Agent with the Diplomatic Surveillance Group. Corey is restless and looking for action, so when his former lover, Detective Beth Penrose, appears with a job offer, Corey has to once again make some decisions about his career—and about reuniting with Beth Penrose. “Skinship: Stories” by Yoon Choi
I was intrigued by the title. I’d never heard of “Skinship”, but can certainly unferstand why the title is so appropriate. Each of the stories deals with a variation of being comfortable, or not, in one’s skin and how each person related to others. I enjoyed learning how the Korean culture was similar in some ways to what I know, and different in other ways.

According to GoodReads, Carolyn Thornton is the Author of “To Ask Again, Yes). I don’t know why LOC listed the author as Carolyn Nation. A similar title “Ask Again, Yes” is by Mary Beth Keane.
If I remember correctly, the story was a bit out-rageous, yet funny.
