“1-800-Where-R-You?” by Meggin Cabot
After I donated my first illustrated children’s book, “The Night Search”, to BookShare, I thought I should learn how to down-load a book. “1-800-Where-R-You” popped up first, so I clicked on it. The process is quite a bit more complicated than that, but the book transferred to my Victor Stream Reader.
I enjoyed the story and can see where 9th graders would be fascinated by it also. “Code Cassandra” is one in a series of Jess stories.
From Wikipedia The Free Encyclopedia
Meggin Patricia Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, in Bloomington, Indiana. After she graduated from Indiana University, Cabot moved to New York City, with the original aim of pursuing a career as an illustrator. However, she soon quit this job and started working as an assistant manager of the freshman dormitory at New York University.[9]
Personal life[edit]
Meg Cabot married financial writer and poet, Benjamin D. Egnatz on April 1, 1993. Their wedding date,April Fool’s Day, was a deliberate play on her husband’s belief that only fools get married in the first place. The wedding was an elopement in Italy.[10] Her novel Every Boy’s Got One is loosely based on her elopement.[11]
She has cats, Henrietta (a one-eyed cat) (1993-Jan 2013), and Gem, about whom she often blogs.[12]
After living in Indiana, California, New York, and France, she now lives in Key West, FL with her husband.[13]

“The Night Search” by Kate Chamberlin
On February 23, 2023, I donated my first illustrated children’s book, “The Night Search” to BookShare, a collection of books accessible to print disabled people.
When I listened to my book, I was disappointed that there was so much information warning people that they had to have a print disability to access this boo and others in the collection and the lengthy disclaimer about something bad happening after you read this story. Why not just go straight to the story?
The other surprise I had, was that in the middle of the book, Heather’s name is changed to Grace. We looked in the print addition from which we scanned the submission, and the name Grace is not in the print edition. Go figure! Still, I’m delighted to have my book in an accessible format for many people.
Synopsis:
The Night Search
Heather, who is blind, resists using her white cane until she tries to find her puppy outdoors at night, an experience that helps her accept her cane as a valuable helper.

I’m not sure I understood all the political implications and such, but, I enjoyed this story. It lived up to the hype of being a best seller.
From the WEB:
Amir Tsarfati (born 22 October 1972) is a famous Israeli author, teacher, conference speaker, motivational speaker, social media influencer, and entrepreneur from Jerusalem, Israel. He is famously known for his motivational speeches and online classes. Apart from this, he is well-known in the country as the founder and president of Behold Israel.

Yohn is one of the high celebrated American public figures. He is best known for his work on religious-centered books like Mondy Night Jihad. Steve Yohn was into religious beliefs from a young age. This is something he grew up acknowledging. After all, he was raised as a pastor’s kid.
Steve Yohn grew up as a pastor’s kid in Fresno, California, and both of those facts contributed significantly to his slightly warped perspective on life. Steve graduated from Multnomah Bible College with a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and barely survived a stint as a youth pastor.

“1980, Pass Christian, Mississippi: It is three in the morning when Bobby Western zips the jacket of his wet suit and plunges from the Coast Guard tender into darkness. His dive light illuminates the sunken jet, nine bodies still buckled in their seats, hair floating, eyes devoid of speculation. Missing from the crash site are the pilot’s flight bag, the plane’s black box, and the tenth passenger. But how? A collateral witness to machinations that can only bring him harm, Western is shadowed in body and spirit–by men with badges; by the ghost of his father, inventor of the bomb that melted glass and flesh in Hiroshima; and by his sister, the love and ruin of his soul.” — Provided by publisher. I suspect the publisher’s write-up contains full disclosure, but the NLS doesn’t mention that this story is an LGBQ+ story and, where does the ‘historical’ come into this fiction?
After all is said and done, this is a good mystery story as it unfolds each member of the household’s hidden secret, besides being gay. I actually like the ending, too.

“Wolves Of Winter” by R. Allen Chappell
The weather in 1075A.D. is described as being ‘the month of popping trees’. If you live in northern climes, you know for sure it was cold that season. As the present dig progresses, the story of the ancient people of 1075 unfolds. It is an interesting saga and I looked forward to its chapters, which were announced with the date each time.
I appreciate the fact that the present day site diggers respect the tribal taboos.
Stephen Van Doren did a good job of reading this story for the National Library Service.
From the web:
R. Allen Chappell is an American author of historical mystery and historical fiction novels. He is the author of the Navajo Nation Mystery, and derived his inspiration for the series from the fact that he grew up with the Navajo, attended school with them, and even worked alongside them later in life; experiences which impacted his life greatly.
When he is not writing, Chappell continues to dig deeper into the Navajo culture and way of life. The author lives in Western Colorado. Navajo Autumn is the first book in the Navajo Nation Mystery series. The book stars Charlie Yazzie, a Navajo law graduate looking to create a name for himself in the corporate world.

The reading time, according to my Victor Stream Reader, is 14:35:03.
Even when a policeman retires, many of the skills he’s honed throughout his career remain with him. That’s what happens in this story with sometimes funny results ( He mis-identifies the gender of the child.), but more often with sad outcomes (He discovers that the brother is actually dead.).
I like this ex-cop and I like his lady-friends, too.

Tana Elizabeth French, born 1973 in Burlington, Vermont, is an American-Irish writer and theatrical actress. She is a longstanding resident of Dublin, Ireland.[1] Her debut novel In the Woods (2007), a psychological mystery, won the Edgar,[2] Anthony, Macavity, and Barry awards for best first novel. The Independent has referred to her as “the First Lady of Irish Crime,” who very quietly has become a huge international name among fiction readers.[3]

A few take-outs from this story:
–People in pain, often do not understand the wounds they give others.
–God is not dead nor does he sleep.
–Jesus knew he would be despised and rejected. How people would turn away…He knows how I feel.
–We look to the skies, the stars, and remember those who fought in this war, who have given their lives that others may live in peace and freedom.
–The love of God that makes life worth living.
